Things I tell myself:
Nothing left to do but live it
death is around the corner & one's life is short
opinions are relative & not the whole
live your life your way
don't take anything personal, if you can remember
[questions we all ask]
what does it mean to have this happen?
why'd it have to go this way?
what else can i say?
where do i go from here?
nothing left to do but live...
a weed will find a way
so be like a weed
find that will, nobody can give it to you
nobody can hand you your own approval; [which is masked as approval from someone else.]
nothing left to do but live...
we all share this existence
thinking is a way of dividing it
partitioning it
into our little mental homesteads
nothing left to do but live this life of a human being...
without necessarily knowing what that means
gonna find out along the way
gonna find the way along the way
live....live.....live.......give your own approval to yourself to live.
drop the past, you're here NOW
only the rules of the game dictate that you define yourself by the past
if you have to find new friends who give you room to not be the same
..but instead give you room to grow
you can go anywhere from here
become as a child again, not knowing everything, & open to life....
people will pick your ideals apart and let you know you're not living up to them
as long as you can laugh at that fact, the room and space will get bigger
there's nothing to take personal when we're all making the best of what's in front of us
and the emotion of taking it personal isn't a "who"....its a "what"
Give yourself room to be corny, hateful, horny, compassionate, and all the rest of it.
Who's to say we're supposed to be anything at any give time anyway?
Find your own path....then there's,
nothing left to do but live it.

"a weed will find a way"... very nice.
ReplyDeleteTell it like it is!
ReplyDelete"Give yourself room to be corny, hateful, horny, compassionate, and all the rest of it."
sometimes I need to remember this more...
Lauren, ..yeah, that line came from seeing dandelions, tree, and moss growing in places they shouldn't be growing, with very little to nourish/support life. I just put "weeds" to keep it simpler. It's about "resilience," and all those other qualities that support finding a way.
ReplyDeleteDiomedies, i have had a difficult time with trying to match up to the "ideal" or image of being a buddhist or even what I thought of as spiritual. So, these days I try not to have much of an image, or if there is one...i try to keep in mind that its a hat I'm trying to hang on the wind.
I noticed I would spend an awful amount of time reacting to my mis-steps, mistakes. The story of the dart, "sallatha sutta" is useful for pointing out how we react to what already is...throwing a second arrow(dart) at ourselves so to speak. I'd heard the story a few years ago from a Gil Fronsdal mp3 about that sutta, but Lauren found the source text I was never able to find.
Sorry for my delayed response, I came down with a nice stomach virus [or something] the past two days.
